Boot problem - aswrvrt.sys

Hi,

Windows XP will not boot. When I try to boot into safe mode it hangs on aswrvrt.sys.

i have attached my FRST.txt log.

thanks in advance.

Remover notified. Thanks for the log. Sit tight

Could you initially disconnect your second drive and try a reboot

disconnected my secondary hard drives, no change.

Download the attached Fixlist.txt to the same location as FRST
Run FRST and press Fix
On completion a log will be generated please post that
Then try a normal boot

ran FRST and did the fix, Windows still does not boot and safe mode hangs on Mup.sys now.

From the reatogo desktop could you select command prompt and run the following command :

chkdsk c: /r

On completion try a reboot

still the same…when windows trys to boot it runs chkdsk but fails to reboot once finished, chkdsk just hangs.

Does chkdsk complete or does it stop during one of the stages ?

chkdsk completes but hangs before it can reboot.

Could you run a fresh FRST scan please

new log file attached.

Looks like I have left one Avast run key behind, I do not think it will make a difference but it is worth a try

Download the attached Fixlist.txt to the same location as FRST
Run FRST and press Fix
On completion a log will be generated please post that

chkdsk is still hanging after it completes.

Log file attached.

Could you check in your BIOS that the drive is set to SATA rather than IDE
