Boot Scan, bug or normal?

Hello,
First, I’d like to let you know that I’m sorry for my bad english, but I asked on the French forum and nobody answered…

So, here is the context :
Yesterday, I’ve got a malware on my computer, it did many things but I stopped the process before it was finished. Then, I cleared all the files (exe, dll, and more) which were installed by the malware. After that, I thought that it was a good idea to use Avast’s boot scan (I’ve never tried it before) so I enabled it and restarted my computer but now it’s been 6 hours that my computer is on the HP loading screen…

Is it normal or do I need to do something ? I’m afraid.

Thanks to everyone for their replies

One question.
After you stopped the infection and removed all the files etc, did you restart the computer to see if that still worked?
If not, your current problem may be related to the infection not the boot scan.
For help with infections once your system boot, follow this:

If you can’t get the system to boot. I’d still post your questions in that section.

Yes, everything was working nice…

I have a quite good processor, intel i5-7400 @ 3.00Ghz and 900 GB used on my HDD. Is the time normal or do I need to stop? …

You should see some action to let you know that the scan is running.
I’ve never not have that happen when running the boot time scan.

What do you mean? Is windows normally starting ?

A part of the boot process starts and then the scan kicks in.

Oh ty, now i can just reset lmao

Once your system reboots, I’d still follow up here:

I see your HDD has 900 GB used, so you can expect a boot scan will take hours to complete.

His complaint was that it never started.
