Hi and thank you for reading this. Avast blocked a bit of malware while I was online then suggested I run a boot scan. I clicked through to run the scan, downloaded additional files to run the boot scan but when it reached 5% the screen went blank and Windows 10x86 resumed boot as normal. I tried again but exactly the same thing happened so I ran a full system scan which found 2 high threats (I deleted these) and again the program advised a boot scan but yet again boot resumed as scan stopped at 5%. I am running Win10 pro, version 1511, OS build 10586.545 and any help appreciated.
At what point (file/folder) does the scan stop ? (check the log file)
What exact avast version ?
Any other security (related) software installed ? (or was there)
What is the name of the threads found and in what files ?
Avast version is 12.3.2280 , build 12.3.3154.2. Where in programdata/avastsoftware/avast will I find the log you need please?
Hi alan3333,
And welcome. You’ll need to change File Explorer settings to show hidden files in order to see the ProgramDATA folder.
Use the two attached snips to drill down to find the avastbootscan.log. I’m not showing this log since I’ve never had a reason to run the boot-time scan but it is very likely the bootscan log is inside that log folder.
Don’t forget to change Explorer settings back to hidden once you are done.
