Boot scan freeze/blue screen

Hi

I have tried to install Avast Free - 4.8 -
AVG was resident at the time of loading Avast.

I restarted and it began a boot scan.

After a minute of scanning, it froze and proceeded
to blue screen !

Any ideas?

do you mean you have avast and AVG installed and running at the same time?

Pondus is right, using 2 resident anti virus programs is asking for trouble. If you want to use Avast! 4.8 you should deinstall AVG, and I recommend you to use the AVG Remover afterwards just to be sure :

But why don’t you go for Avast! 5 :slight_smile:

I managed to boot up in safe mode and uninstall both of them,
and re-install Avast.

So far so good : )

I think i`ll your advice Red and check out that avg remover,
and upgrade to ver 5 aswell…

it isn’t over yet - fogbrain, could you please send me the latest minidump file (\Windows\minidump folder) to kurtin@avast.com? This file was created when you got blue screen and yet, you’ve uninstalled avg, I’d like to look at it. Thanks!
