Boot Scan log

I just completed a boot scan where many file error results were displayed. I think I have a backup drive with bad clusters and want to block these sectors and backup the files again. I tried to use the log viewer, but I did not see any of these results. I also searched all the log files using notepad in my awil directory, but no results.

Are these files logged anywhere?

Bad sectors aren’t scanned in anyway… they’re blocked.
To exclude files/folders:
You need to use the Exclusion lists:

For the Standard Shield provider (on-access scanning):
Left click the ‘a’ blue icon, click on the provider icon at left and then Customize.
Go to Advanced tab and click on Add button…

For the other providers (on-demand scanning such as the screen-saver or the Simple User Interface):
Right click the ‘a’ blue icon, click Program Settings.
Go to Exclusions tab and click on Add button…

You can use wildcards like * and ?.
But be careful, you should ‘exclude’ that many files that let your system in danger.

Thank you for the reply Tech, but maybe I wasn’t clear with my question:

When you do a boot time scan, where are the results of the boot scan logged?

I did a boot scan and some file errors came up on one of my disks that has some known issues (bad SMART). I want to be able to see this log, as when the boot scan completed, the screen went to the windows logon screen. I looked in the normal avast log viewer, but none of the results of the boot scan were there.

C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\Data\Report\ashboot.txt I think…

I dont know how I missed this in my previous file search from explorer, as it was clearly there…oh well.

I also found file read errors displayed when the boot scan took place (win 2000 PC), I looked in the Boot log but none were logged. I am concerned that These cannot be removed from available with the NTFS file system. However since I did not write down the names and the log did not contain them I am concerned about what to do. Can anyone assist ?

Are you sure it was really read errors? I mean, do you remember what the error said, not necessarily what the full path could be?
Maybe they were some corrupted archives…
