Hi Team Alwil Software. I just got a Trojan right now but i’m not able to make a scan boot sytem anymore like before. the option is not enabled, it’s grayed, i can’t clic on it. Plz Can you tell me what i can do to enabled the option who schedule the boot scan system plz Thank you. Hope you understand my english.
Laptop Configuration:
OS: Windows Vista Edition Familiale Premium
CPU: Intel Pentium Dual Core 2.0Ghz 64Bits
RAM: 4GiG DDR2
I’m not sure that CED570 is running a 64bit OS, just a 64bit CPU.
Windows Vista Home Premium is more likely to be a 32bit version, mind you with 4GB of RAM it could be 64bit. The clue is however in the “but i’m not able to make a scan boot sytem anymore like before” so I can only assume (dangerous I know) that CED570 has done so on this system before.
@ CED570
You could try using the a command line, Windows, Start, Run and type, C:\Program Files\ALWIL Software\Avast4\sched.exe /A:*
If your OS is 64bit then that wouldn’t work, I also don’t know how it works in Vista with its infamous UAC if you have a 32bit OS.
David i done the command line without success D:\Program Files\ALWIL Software\Avast4\sched.exe /A:* Letter D because the path of the folder of avast installation are in this partition. but i have the same Deal=problem and the command line doesn’t working, i got error message like the command it’s not recongnize like internal or external command…blablabla
but now i’m a little bit confused because Igor confirmed my supposition before i expose my problem in this forum. He said ‘‘I’m afraid the boot-time scan is currently not supported on a 64bit OS, sorry.’’ and i don’t remember realy if i done a scan boot system on this os 64bit cuz i have the habit to done it on the computer of my friend…
ohhh! i just called 3 of my friend on wchich i have the habit to done the boot-time scan. 3 of them say their os it’s 32bits and i can’t reach the last one so i have the confirmation that BOOT-TIME SCAN RUNNING ONLY ON 32BIT.
On Vista, you need to start a cmd window as the administrator and not common user.
Start > write down cmd
Click CTRL+SHIFT+ENTER at the same time.
Then write the schedule command.
oh!!! i had forgot to ask you if u couldn’t make a module who could make compatible Boot-time scan running on 64Bits OS? the Boot-time scan it’s the option who is for me the most important and i don’t want to change antivirus because i used Avast since 4 years now with my old laptop without serious problem when the option of Boot-time scan was enabled. so u can probably understand how much i love it. Thanks Again.
Sorry the command line I gave you reflected my old system where the avast folder was in my D:| partition, change that to C:\ and the command should be OK if you installed avast into the default location, and your OS was 32bit not 64bit…
It isn’t so much the module as 32bit modules work on 64bit OSes, the problem is the 64bit boot is somewhat harder to get this boot-time scan function. There are no other AVs that even do this in 32bit OSes so avast is the exception here also. But as far as I’m aware Alwil are trying to see if they can do the same in a 64bit OS.
