Hello , i was searching for some viruses on my computer since it went from normal to extremly slow anyway i found out some viruses with a normal Full Scan that it took about 13 hours for 2.6TB of Scan files after the full scan Avast suggested me to proceed with a boot time scan its been about 8 hours since its started doing it and its still at 0% . The programm is searching for files and it found out some infected files that i put them for deletion . Also the same happened with the Full Scan it was stacked at 0% and the last 5 minutes i think it went from 0-100% and that when he finish scanning my hard drives if i remember correctly
My Computer Spec :
Windows xp 64bit
8gb ram
Intel Core 2 quad 2.4ghz Q6600
Also i should mention that he is scanning the C drive still and i have 2 more drivers but i think it will not scan them since they are not hosting the windows in them . Should i wait ? Should i press ESC ? Any opinion appreciate .
Full scan can take a while. All depends on the size of your HDD and the amount of data you have in it. Also how you set up the sttings for full scan. Boot scan usually will analizy all files and HDD you have in your computer and it is slower.
First do no harm. Deleting the files is not recommended as first choice. Send the files to Avast! virus chest.
Boot scan is a special scan that is applied when Avast! tell you so. eg. You just finished a scan and Avast! found some malicious or suspicious file that might or might not be running and Avast! could not stop it. So Avast! wants to make sure, it did not miss it and asks for a boot scan. In this mode just some essential processes will be active in your computer and Avast! has a better chance to remove that malicous file.
If you really have problems with an infection, it is best to look for help here where a specialist can take a look at it.
