Boot-time scan changes MBR?

Does the Boot-time scan change the Master Boot Record?

I have Rollback Rx installed and I’m worried that if the MBR is changed I’ll need to re-install RB and lose all my snapshots.
The same would be true for anyone who has utilities that make use of the MBR eg. Norton Goback.
Thanks in advance for any information about this.

No, like the rest of the avast scanners, it scans and alerts to infection, it doesn’t modify the MBR or other files, other than if you asked it to move/rename an infected file.

There are other forum members also using similar programs as opposed to system restore.

Excellent! And thanks for the quick reply. It’s support like this that leads to user confidence.
I’ve recently had bad experiences with my current firewall/anti-virus provider and I’ll be voting with my feet to get the Avast v5 “internet protection” package as soon as it’s available.

No problem, glad I could help.

Welcome to the forums.

Avast changed Win boot only (maybe registry)
