I have the following after a boot time scan.
Error 42144 ole archive corrupt
Error 42127 CAB archive corrupt
Are these false positives? or how can I correct them.

Are these false positives?False Positive means a clean file detected as malware, this is an error and not a detected infection
By examining 1) the reason given by avast! for not being able to scan the files, 2) the location of the files, you can get an idea of what program they relate to. You may need to expand the column headings to see all the text.
Files that can’t be scanned are just that, not an indication they are suspicious/infected, just unable to be scanned.
Also, the packaging of the file could have some error, or use a non-standard pattern…
I have the same error messages. Is this an infected file or what? How do we fix this?
Well you don’t give us any information, file name, location, etc. ?
Based only on the messages - If you have the same error messages, then the same answers apply.
