Boot-Time Scan issues

Hello Everyone,

I am a new user to the avast! software and I while I have enjoyed it very much I have recently come across a problem which I hope someone may be able to assist me in. I scheduled a boot-time scan on my HP Pavilion Slimline and when a turned on my desktop the screen was frozen on what I beleive people call the "HP Splash Screen" (the blue one that has the hand tossing out various icons and the HP logo in the center). At the bottom of the screen are the following options: F9=diagnostics, F10=setup, F11=system recovery, ESC=boot menu. I receive no response from my mouse of my keyboard.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

i would hold the power button until it turn off…and then try restart again…but thats me

There might be a typo but if your keyboard responds try pressing F8 repeatedly. This will allow you to boot into “safe mode”. From there open avast…unschedule boot scan…re-boot into normal mode. Let us know how things are going. :slight_smile:

We need to know what operating system you are using? & if you are on xp you need to be on SP3 MINIMUM FOR AVAST ANTIVIRUUS
