hey folks - i used to know where the boot time scan log was saved to but i have forgotten -Can anyone refresh my memory for me please??? Where is it???
How about here
C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\DATA\log
Precisely, C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\DATA\Report\aswBoot.txt
\report and not \log I suppose.
I stand corrected. 8)

many thanks people - Foolishly I had been ‘trying’ Bitdefender’s free AV product…
My PC slowed right down and I was unable to maintain an internet connection.
The Boot scan found this:
File C:\WINDOWS\system32\14550437 is infected by Win32:Trojan-gen {Other}, Moved to chest
File C:\WINDOWS\system32\18150484 is infected by Win32:Trojan-gen {Other}, Moved to chest
File C:\WINDOWS\system32\halifax1.dll[UPX] is infected by Win32:Banker-DED [trj], Moved to chest
File C:\WINDOWS\system32\halifax2.dll[UPX] is infected by Win32:Banker-DED [trj], Moved to chest
File C:\WINDOWS\system32\msdvdr.pif is infected by Win32:Trojan-gen {Other}, Moved to chest
I am hoping all is well now I have reverted back to trusty Avast! ;D

That’s why I said “I stand corrected”, meaning you are right. 8)
