Boot time scan on vista x64

Ok I have been a EXTREMELY loyal user of avast since 2002 or 2003 and it saddens me that i have to find a new AV as avast is missing features I came to rely on before switching to Vista x64. Now sorry but keeping avast is not worth the few hundred bucks to switch back to another version of windows. When will avast ever be 64 bit compatible? Will it ever? ??? There are items on my system that I need a boot time scan to remove and I can’t use it.

I hope you can get around to fixing it. In the mean time I pray I don’t lose my HD.

The exact date is unknown - but yes, it’s planned for the future.

It’s fully x64 compatible. Just boot time scanning is missing, nothing more. Same protection, same detection rate, same performance.
Ok, can you boot and run a scanning from there? No, then, read the instructions, download and burn (maybe from another computer), finally use one of this rescue CD’s:

  1. Dr. Web
  2. Avira
  3. BitDefender
  4. Kaspersky
  5. F-Secure

well then there must be something wrong with my version as there are 7 features unavailable. I have read the instructions for avast many times. with every updated version for 7 years. also not the same detection or performance. It works better on xp and on vista x32. I still use avast but have had to add avira to catch the leftovers. btw avira wont run a boot time either. I have tried 25 av and none of them will run a boot time. I can boot scan on my 2 desktops that are xp.

What 7 features are unavailable ?

Avira doesn’t run a boot-time scan even in 32 bit version, avast is the only one that I know of that does this.
