When I checked my computer this morning, there was an Avast pop-up message stating that Avast had finished Clean-Up and asking if I wanted to run a boot-time scan when the computer is rebooted so I clicked ‘Yes.’
A Monthly Scan is the only scheduled scan.
1a. Cleanup was not scheduled-Why did it run automatically overnight?
b. For future reference, how can Cleanup be scheduled?
Is it necessary to run the Boot-Time Scan after Cleanup is completed?
I don’t use Clean-Up as I prefer to do those kind of tasks myself not autonomously. So I’m not very familiar with the function. Or why it would run automatically.
If you can run a scheduled Clean-Up scan then presumably it would be in the Scan area, possibly listed in the drop down list. If not try clicking the Scan for viruses option, from that section check if the drop down list has it. If there are no options for the Clean-Up then I guess it can’t be scheduled like other scans, which begs the question how did it get run.
I just wonder if it might get run in the Smart Scan if you have the Clean-Up function installed with avast.
Personally I don’t believe it necessary to run a boot time scan after a Clean-Up scan. That said in other scans if avast finds anything in the scan if generally would suggest a boot time scan.
Did avast find anything in the Clean-Up scan ?
Well, after Tues morning’s unscheduled ‘Cleanup’ and Wed morning’s two unscheduled ‘Virus and Malware’ Scans, no unscheduled scans were run on Thurs morning so it must have been a software glitch.
I will update this post if there is another unscheduled scan.
