The Boot Time Scan on my win98 is greyed out. Is it supposed to be like this ??

No boot time scan on Win98, I think.

Run in Safe Mode if possible.

This is actually by design. The boot-scan feature is unavailable on Windows 9x.
Boot-time scanner is only available on 32bit WinNT/2000/XP/Vista.
