i have a urgent question. my friends comp attacked by brontok worm and it prohibit us to remove it even from F8 mode.
i’m planning to use boot-time scan to eliminate it. but since it also block any windows with AVAST string on it, is there anyway I can use boot-time scan without using Avast interface?? :
What is your system, can you access dos (win9x) if so then download the dos version of avast here http://www.avast.com/eng/avast_77_for_dos.html
Or download this worm removal tool http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/w32.sober.removal.tool.html
or use the avast tool http://www.avast.com/eng/avast_cleaner.html
But more info is required please
You may be able to navigate to the file that opens the simple user interface in windows explorer ‘C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\ashSimpl.exe’ and double click that, if that opens ok you should be able to schedule a boot-time scan from the menu.
Another way to try and ‘Schedule Boot-Time Scan’ using RejZoR’s AEC avast! External Control Tool.
I’ll try this…hope its work
for essexboy, i havent note my friends spec, i’ll do that soon. thanks for the advice. btw, its not possible using tools from symantec, it’s blocked.
Is it possible to download it (removal Tool )on your PC then load it on a flash drive or disk ?
What is blocked?
