Boot-Time Scan won't start

Using version 8.01.1483 and Firefox 19.02.

When I choose to run a Boot-Time scan nothing happens on reboot even if I shut the machine OFF and restart I still get no scan.

Last weekend Avast allegedly found HTML:IFRAME-Zg (Trj) so I did a scan and it was suggested that I run a Boot Time scan too so I did. It found multiple Java infection but on re-boot it had reverted my machine back to a state that was right after I installed many new programs. I wasn’t expecting this to say the least. Luckily I save the day with System Restore. I also had an Acronis backup to use if all else failed!

Now I’d like to run a Boot-Time Scan again by itself but it wont’ run.

What to do?

try repairing avast.
since you used system restore I believe a repair is in order. Avast does not like system restores
