Boot Time Scan

Hello all,

I did a search and could not find any posts that covered what I need to know and if it was covered it was not clearly defined. I installed Avast Home free version and I have been using Avast for a long time now and would like to do another boot time scan. I checked the preferences and could not find a way to enable this function. I tried to uninstall and reinstall Avast thinking this would allow me to do another boot time scan but this did not work. I need to find out exactly how I can schedule a boot time scan periodically. Is there a way to change the .ini file? What are the steps I need to take to get Avast to routinely schedule a boot time scan? Is this even possible with Avast? Please help me if you can.

Thank you
Kineo

What operating system do you use?

My apologies, I am running Windows XP 64-bit.

I am afraid boot-time scan is not supported on 64bit operating systems right now.

Well bugger, any way to emulate a Windows XP 32-bit system to get the functionality? If I had Windows XP 32-bit installed then I would have that functionality? Hmm, I might have to install the 32-bit version in the near future.

Thank you Igor for the information,

Kineo

I don’t think so. It won’t be easy to emulate 32bits before booting… {Edited by Igor’s correction}

Yes, it’s available for 32bits installations.

Actually, no - drivers are not a problem :wink:
The problem is the VPS file - which is “somehow” natively 32bit.
