hi all, I have the avast 4.8 home edition. Every time I try to run a boot-time scan, I get this message : keyboard error: :numbers of files scanned 0 : number of infected files 0:. Can any one tell me whats going on. Have windows XP PRO all up to date.
I think i heard that some 64 bits system are having problem with boot scan so i think its good to put what kind of bits you are using (32-64)
There is not a problem with x64 systems, just that boot time scanning does not even exist for such systems yet.
USB Keyboard
Either use a ps2 keyboard or a usb to ps2 converter.
The problem is getting into the BIOS to enable usb devices so the keyboard will be recognised before boot, the chicken and egg situation is here if this option hasn’t been enabled you might not be able to change it in the BIOS if your usb keyboard isn’t recognised.

- Disable the self-defense module in avast! settings/Troubleshooting
- download these two files and save them to C:\WINDOWS\system32

- Try the boot time scan
