Anyone have the Boot time scan run thru without being able to recognize or remove a stubborn virus? …
The characteristics of the virus is that it runs multiple sessions of Explorer and slows typing in the address bar down from tedious … to impossible. I can watch new sessions of explorer emerge while doing nothing from Task manager. An attempt to go to Google resulted in a commercial for PCs … Does this sound familiar to anyone? - perhaps if I have the name of the virus I can find a tool to remove it. It’s for a neighbor’s PC.
Malwarebytes Anti-Malware 1.46 http://filehippo.com/download_malwarebytes_anti_malware/
always run update before you scan so you have the latest database
click the remove selected button to quarantine anything found
you may post the scan log here
Thanks. I should mention that we get a 42127 error during boot-time scan - uanable to open cab … which I think could mean the virus/malware resides in the restore point folder, which is protected by Windows. I’ve read that disabling system restore (system protection) could be a solution … so we have some strategies to try. Will post progress in case others have similar issues.
