I attempted a Boot Time Scan this afternoon. After 8% completion, I was told of a problem with a dracur and was given the steps to rid the pest. Unfortunately, since the computer was not up I could not use my keyboard to select any option. I ended up cutting off my machine and had to re-install AVAST. Unless there is another alternative, I’ll never do a boot time scan again.
What is your OS (I suspect XP)?
I take it that your also using a USB keyboard ?
If so the above combination means the keyboard won’t work in the boot-time scan before windows is running.
If you have a PS2 port on your motherboard I/O you could try plugging in a PS2 keyboard before rebooting to initiate the boot-time scan. There was meant to be a work around for this (downloading a special file) but I can’t recall it or the URL.
Or ensure that USB devises are enabled in the BIOS/CMOS settings, probably the Peripherals section, though this could be a chicken and egg problem if you can’t use the keyboard to change the settings.
Thanks for the help. I’m running Vista Home Prem.
That is strange not heard of this issue with Vista, was it a USB keyboard ?
