How do I schedule a boot-time virus scan?
Start the Simple User Interface, right click on its window and select “Schedule boot-time scan” from the popup menu that appears.
And if running a skinless interface, my favorite, you need to go to Settings menu option and select it from there.
Just had an opportunity once again to show that you need not to have any crazy media player type interface with avast.
Never could understand windows media player various options too, how to get my normal windows screen back with a menu, takes times once you go there to some fancy interface. 
I like my windows interface basic, but I am not among the most I guess.

It is just the skinless option, from the Program Settings, untick the Enable Skins options, see image and your done.
