Boot Up Problem

After installing free Avast on my Laptop which is running Windows 7 Pro, now it won’t boot up. What could be my problem?

What AV did you have before avast ?
did it come with a preinstalled AV when new?
Did you remove it before installing avast?
Did you run a removal tool so all leftovers are gone ?

I was running Windows Security Essentials and uninstalled it before installing free Avast 6. But I never ran a removal tool.
