Borderland and Soulstorm blocked

Hi everybody,

after upgrading Free avast to internet security two games are blocked (Soulstorm and Borderlands). It seems that it has something to do with Securom or another Copy protection.
I uninstalled already Borderlands with Revo uninstaller and cleaned also the registry. At the end of the reinstallation the setup stops with an error message that a Securom Safety feature cannot be proceeded (Free translation from german).
My System is:
Win7 on newest state (all updates done)
Avast internet Security (up to date)

Has anybody a solution for this problem?

B.t.w. No Copy software is installed or deamon tools or…

Silly question … Are you running the setup programme in a sandbox ?

Silly situation I would say.

But to answer the question. No I don’t run it in a sandbox.
The problem raised after upgrading avast. This is the only change which come into my mind.

Maybe the Behaviour-Shield (Verhaltens-Schutz) blocks something. Do you have set it to ask?

DJBone

I found and checked it. Nothing was done by me.

No event is shown.

Do you have upgraded to AIS, maybe the firewall is blocking connections. Do you have set the firewall to ask or automatic?

DJBone

AIS? Do you mean Avast Internet Security? If so, the answer is yes.

As I have it just some days I use the standard settings. I assume the firewall is automatic. Where to change?

Found it!
Make some test with the new setting manual.
Come back for report.

OK, please report back.

DJBone

Test with Borderlands instalation complete.
Same failure again without any message from firewall or from avast at all.

The failure message from “release control” is (sorry its in geman):
“Das Sicherheitsmodul konnte nicht ordnungsgemäß aktiviert werden.
Das Programm kann nicht ausgeführt werden (5002).”

It seems to be something extremly starnge :frowning:

You could try to disable the avast shields one by one to see which is blocking the installation. It’s a little bit of work. :frowning:

To me this sounds like autosandbox blocking some registry changes

But autosandbox shows a message. Or am i wrong?

DJBone

Depends on whether it is set to ask or not

Autosandbox is set to “auto”, but no message from Autosandbox.

I tried already to deactivate avast completly but no sucsess. The only thing I could do is to deinstall avast temporary to verify whether it is linked to the problem. :frowning:

Solved!!!

I was thinking about again. And found out that I also installed a LG Tool for my blue ray player for updating the firmware and Configuration programms from TTesports for mouse and Keyboard.

I uninstalled the LG Tool with Revo Uninstaller and restarted Windows. After the restart not only the LG tool was removed but also the the autostarter of the TTesports Software was concered and I got a message that it cannot be loaded. So one of these two was it. I will reinstall the TTesports Software to verify it more exactly.

Thanks a lot for your help and sorry that I suspected Avast to be cause for the my problem.

Update:

After uninstalling the LG Firmware Update Tool just Soulstorm works but the same problems during reinstalling of Borderlands occured.

After deinstalling of TTesports software (both mouse and keyboard) the reinstallation of borderlands also worked.

So, problem solved completely!!!

Thanks again

You’re welcome!

Set autosandbox to ask

Set the programme as an exclusion with autosandbox
