Both Jotti and Virustotal scan?

Hi forum members,

Through this forum people often get the advice to get a second opinion at the multiscanner jotti. But there is also this link: htttp://www.virustotal.com/flash/index_en.htm. Is this an addition?

greets,

polonus

Polonus, this link takes me to Temasek Polytechnic. ??? ???

I don’t want to go back to school!

Virustotal is often suggested by various members. But read first what Vlk thinks about them, and then decide for yourself :-: http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=13705.0

Hi Spyros,

Maybe good the link did not work. But I put it there to get a reaction and get wiser.
Thanks for the reaction. Everyday one learns, and that goes on I think until one dies.

Have a very nice day,

polonus

I like these sites to check if some result could be or not a false positive…
The Virus Total have the advantage to run in a windows server instead of a linux like Jotti…

Hi VaMPiRiC_CRoW,

If you were giving the choice between such on line-scans. What would you prefer ActiveX or a Flash application, and why? I think second, but I do not know? Anybody has a view on this. Our Vlk says that the owner of virustotal is a malware collectioner, and that gives him second thoughts. When you have a zoo with wild animals, you would not set them loose at night, would you? I know there are virus factories in Bulgaria & to a lesser extent in Russia. They also exist in other places, I know about Brazil for instance ? (only of hearsay!)

greets,

polonus

polonus,

Vlk knows if the owner of Virus Total send the samples to the AV companies?

Regards

What about asking directly to him?

Done… :stuck_out_tongue:

I don’t know about virus facories ::slight_smile: Besides from that most of the big outbreaks come from Germany or Asia
And even if there are many viruses from Russia, we got the best cleaners in-house too

Yes they do provide the AV companies with all the samples harvested… but anyway, they keep them for theirselves as well, of course…

What is the problem to keep the samples if they sent them to the AV companies?

Exists collectors of stamps and others things, why not malware…
It they use them badly…
