Just wanted to share my happy experience with this new reputation rating site extension http://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=293842 8)
polonus has been doing some tests on this new reputation scanner and it doesn’t look very reliable, http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=84146.0
You can provide a link, as he has access to this section.
As has been mentioned in the wilders topic, there is no rating on search results, so for me that really is a waste of time even bothering.
It is a bit late being told when you arrive at a page that it is high risk.
The Firefox Toolbar is a Firefox extension that can be installed with Firefox v2 browsers and above. As you visit a website, it returns the category and reputation score of the URL.
So this really isn’t a pro-active but reactive tool, which may be too late. So until it gets the search results sorted I see little point in having this reactive tool.
You are right but I installed it over WOT, WebRep and BitDefenderTraffic Light and AVG LinkScanner. At this point, I even have Norton DNS ON, if one fails, I hope the red light of Bright cloud extension would still inform me I have “potentially” been infected ;D
I think that you can definitely have too much of a good thing and that includes security based software. Taking one look at your signature, and I think you may have reached that point some time ago ;D
When you become the slave to the security software rather than them working for you, the balance isn’t right.
Sorry, but this is a bit crazy…
Nevertheless, it’s your system. :-X
Im surprised your system is even responsive :o
I can assure you my system works right. But I admit it’s crazy:it’s a bit too much!!!
Imagine how it could work, if you get rid of some stuff…
Hi Asyn,
I agree with you. For web rep make a selection of what is available, overlapping makes overkill.
“Hear that old browser of gdiloren’s moaning and groaning and the vents pushing fresh cooling around”. TrafficLight find issues the others web rep scanners will not, I found, so that could be a welcome one. DrWeb on demand URL checker has a niche of it’s own, so additional check welcome. But do not trust it when green and while other scanner does not agree. WOT is part of other scanners, so you can find the data from elsewhere. M86 security also has a very good track record, but it is a slow consuming one.
I wish everything was less complicated as in the good old days of scandoo, but it is not.
So my favorite listing: Bitdefelder’s TrafficLight, M86 Secure Browsing, avast Web rep, DrWeb’s URL checker on demand for the eventual blind spots. Like to hear gdiloren’s favorite list?

Yes, but also take a look at his sig.
He could be as paranoid as Para-Noid:

Hi YoKenny,
Aren’t you the one then that blocks them all, as I remember well? All I know about malware domain blocklists and for instance specifics to block with ABP and my special Blocker extension filters in GoogleChrome, I learned inspired greatly by your info here on the forums,
polonus
P.S. , Kristian Gárnet Williams’s “Blocker” extension you can find that one here: https://chrome.google.com/extensions/detail/epdedalbkhcbhcmcpfglmhngjpgimcmm
D
Overkill certainly is no thrill.
Too much blocking and,
your browser stops rocking.
Everything in moderation is the way to go
otherwise you browser becomes real slow.
If you want some great advice,
before you go overboard, better think twice.

Thanks. ;D
I use what is in my signature to block malware domains.

Bob, I can assure you it’s like another layer of security. My browsers are as fast as nothing was on them installed. Really! ;D
