I have had Avast for about 2 years now and for some reason when i start up my pc i cant get on the internet or any games… i have to go to my task manager and stop the service to be able to use my internet. it make my ram go up by 30% and my cpu by 100. i don’t know what to do it has never done this before someone please help me. 
I have tried so many things like uninstalling and installing again. but it keeps eating my cpu and ram i am lost someone help please.
What your OS and what version of Avast are you using ?
I’m not sure what Os is and the version is 140517-0
OS- operating system, Windows 7, Windows 8 etc.
Oh i"m running windows 7 ultimate.
Have you tried repair ?
i have on windows and on avast it never finished the scan… it start and stop permanently on 1%
- Which avast!..?? (Free/Pro/IS/Premier)
- Which version…??
- OS…?? (32/64 Bit…? - which SP…?)
- Other security related software installed…??
- Which AV(s) did you use before avast!..??
I’m running windows 7 ultimate and i have to free version of avast. I’m not sure what bit. and i use advanced system care. and im really not sure what i had before i just recall my power being off for a wile and when i tried to get back on it stopped working. so i had to go through my task manager and stop the service by force.
First, be sure to get rid of all remnants of your prior installed AV(s).

Then:
- Download avast! Free Antivirus: http://files.avast.com/iavs9x/avast_free_antivirus_setup.exe
- Follow instructions: http://www.avast.com/uninstall-utility (Run this tool for all prior installed avast! versions…!!)
- Reinstall avast! with the downloaded installer from point 1.
- Reboot.
