Browser add-on ratings

After updating to Avast! Free Antivirus version 2014.9.0.2021 I received a Browser Cleanup notification stating that two of the Firefox add-ons that I am using have a “poor reputation”. One of the add-ons (Search Image) has a 2-star rating and the other one (Classic Toolbar Buttons) has a 1-star rating. However, both of these add-ons have 5-star ratings (user ratings) on Mozilla.org.

Why is there such a discrepancy between the Avast ratings and the user ratings on the Mozilla site and how does Avast determine their add-on ratings?

If i were you! I will definitely uninstall all add-ons (unless it’s security related). You get add-ons when installing programs and software. Recommended thing for you to do is to uninstall these two add-ons.

There are many good and useful add-ons. Recommending that all of them should be removed is foolish.
The Avast ratings are based on Avast user ratings and aren’t always that great (sorry to say.)
Both of those are safe add-ons and if you use them, then keep them. Add them to the exclusion if you can.
If you don’t use them then by all means, uninstall them and help speed up your browser.

Both of these add-ons were downloaded by me (not installed by other programs) and I find them to be useful. I was just curious as to the source(s) used by Avast! to determine when an add-on is flagged by Avast! as having a “bad reputation” when both of these add-ons have high user ratings on the Mozilla site.
