Browser Cleanup

Why is my Browser Cleanup substituting Microsoft and Bing as my default search engines? they are both predatory sites…

The browser Cleanup util let you choose if you want Yahoo or Bing as default search-engine.
If you don’t make a choice it will set Yahoo as default.

Next time, please look at the options that it presents you.

The point is that your default search engine when it’s Google or DuckDuckGo or anything else,
is not a choice available. You are forced to select Bing or Yahoo and if you don’t choose, you’re stuck with Yahoo.
This is wrong and needs to be corrected.

I use Chrome and was sick of being pushed to Yahoo or Bing.
I found out here how to turn off Browser Cleanup.

You can also remove it if you want http://www.avast.com/faq.php?article=AVKB96#

Somebody pointed out how to tell BC to ignore a toolbar it keeps flagging.
So I turned it back on, but it (hopefully) won’t keep prompting me to remove it.

So I must be missing something here; There is an obvious corporate cooperation as Avast openly promotes the installation of “Google Chrome” through default install on the one hand and provides a tool option that forces by default “Bing and Yahoo” on the other hand ?? ???

Precisely what has me and many other totally confused.
Why push the installation of one browser only to slight it with one of the tools installed
by default with the product. It makes no sense and only adds confusion.
