Browser hijackers and junkware from download

Avast did not alert me while installing after I had downloaded a particular wifi network scanner. That came invaded with a installer full of unwanted goodies.
Conduit’s SearchProtect browser hijacker was there, and browser search hijackers like Wajam, SearchScopes, trovi, freecorder. First uninstalled SearchProtect from Windows configuration. Be aware to tick the right options to get your search settings back.
Thought this would not be sufficient and for the Google chrome browser I had to go back to the initial default settings. All browsers had been reset to bing and trovi.
Then I did a scan with AdwareCleaner to get the remainder of junk off, and toppled that off with a run of junkware remover
which relieved me of Windows freecorder and some remainding annoyances. I think this whole operation took me a while, cannot see why avast does not flag a junkware ridden download installer. Well at least all of it has left my device now. Hope such download sites will enter on a blacklist.
