Browser Security

Hi, I have Java as an addon on in IE9 but I have learned that it is quite a good leak for viruses to get through to a PC.

Does this sound right and is it recommended to remove Java ?

Also, if running in the Sandbox, would I still need something like Adblock? At the moment I have IE9 and Google Chrome both with WOT and Webrep and not sure if these are needed in Sandbox mode ?

Thanks

Andy

You could remove all instances of it when you do not have need for it, and feel more secure.
Java security came a long way since the “troubled days” with older vulnerable installs being sought out by malware to infest vicitim software.
Those days have gone now.
Always check you have the latest version and updates installed through scanning here: http://secunia.com/products/consumer/osi/online/

Thanks Polonus, I have PSI which I use on demand fairly often.

Is there any need for Adblock ?

Adblock is excellent, I haven’t seen an Ad for a long while.
