Browser Update Issue

Hey Everyone -

Immediately after the last two updates to Mozilla Firefox, Avast thru the following warning up, replete with the OMG-ding-ding-ding-your-attention-is-needed-NOW!, and several choices of action: firefox.exe is trying to access your login info in Firefox. This info includes your username and password. What would you like to do? [BLOCK APP] [ALLOW APP] [See details v]

1. I have no PW for Firefox
2. I do not use the Logins & Passwords feature in Firefox options, and I do not use the Primary Password feature
3. My Firefox is not some smartphone dummied down "app," but a full browser program on a Windows-based laptop

Exactly WHAT login info would Firefox be trying to access, or make Avast THINK that that is the case? What’s causing this and how do I stop it from popping up, making me think I’ve just been hacked and attacked with some apocolyptic virus of all viruses?

Firefox: 89.0 (64-bit)
O/S: Windows 10 Home, vs 2004 (OS Build 19041.985)
Avast Prog vs: 21.3.2459 (build 21.3.6164.665)
Paid version, Avast Premium Security
Virus Defs vs: 6.05.21 (vs 210605-4)

Thanks

I don’t get this with the latest version of Firefox on a windows 10 laptop…

However I’m only using Avast Free, custom install, so I don’t know if this is a Premium thing or not.

A screenshot of the actual Avast Alert, might help.
What is displayed if you use the See Details option ?

Whilst I don’t think this would make any difference, but the latest avast version is 21.4.2464 (build 21.4.6266.561) - https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=273698.0

I would suggest you do a manual program update and see if that makes any difference, but it is best to have the latest version and investigate from there.

Thank you, DavidR for your reply. Originally I did have an image attached, but something happened to my post after hitting the submit button and I had to start all over, and failed to attach it the second go round. Ironically… I JUST closed that Avast warning box before seeing your reply, and so now cannot check the details. I also had not opted to look at the details before starting this thread.

Also… since I’ve only gotten that warning upon updating Firefox, chances are, I will not see it again (if at all) until I allow the next update. So more info is probably not possible until then.

In the meantime, however, here’s that screenshot…

I was hoping to see the See details information.

To try and pin down which function in Avast Premium Security it might be as I don’t use that Program.

So I’m hoping an Avast Premium Security user (or Avast Team member) can pick up on this.

I’m not even sure what it (Avast) is complaining about, surely Firefox would actually see you access login details not that it is trying to access those details even if you weren’t using the Firefox Logins and Passwords function.
