Just got notification of new update 8.0.1488, after that BSOD following constant reboot.
Whether is updated through UI or clean install the same outcome, tested on my both machines Win 7x64
Other security software installed: Outpost FP 8, what is with avast, this is not the firs time BSOD after new update
Could be the avast+outpost combination, it happen in the past and if that’s the case the avast should work around outpost since outpost update to v8 was months ago and until this update 1488 everything was working nicely
Well the patch is out there and I tested it (but since this patch hasn’t officially been published in the open forums I can’t give any details on where it is and how to apply it.
But one point that was made on my successful test was how they would apply it (program update of other means) as it doesn’t appear to be widespread.
Now the comment about those of us that use the full Outpost Firewall Pro have experienced this problem (but we didn’t in the past with the beta builds) but there were changes in the aswTDI.sys file which as far as I’m aware has some outpost firewall elements. So there may be a possible conflict if the user has outpost firewall pro installed.
However, when I checked BlueScreenView aswTDI.sys was listed in the faulting processes/file name, but there were no outpost firewall pro processes/files listed.
So I don’t really know if this is showing a connection/conflict between the two.
Another point of note is that the patch was for win 7 both 32bit and 64bit, no other OS catered for in this patch.
Well that and obviously avast having licensed some of the Outpost firewall back end functions. But as I said I didn’t seen any outpost firewall pro drivers listed in the bluescreenview information. Plus nothing was mentioned about my running outpost firewall pro when lukor contacted me and I had sent full dumps (mini-dump and memory.dmp files).
Copy files (aswtdi.sys and aswtdi.sys.sum) from the extracted folder into your \Windows\System32\drivers folder (note: use x64 subfolder if your OS version is 64bit)
Copy all files (including x64 subfolder) into \Program Files\AVAST Software\Avast\setup\inf folder (overwrite existing)
Enable avast! self-defense module and reboot
There is no need to delete this post. ;D This post was deleted earlier by some non-staff member.
