BSOD Avast & Steam

Hello ,
I have a little issue on my hands. I get a lot of BSOD while playing Steam Games.
Dump file analyze :

On Sat 6/25/2011 9:58:57 PM GMT your computer crashed
crash dump file: C:\Windows\Minidump\062611-25755-01.dmp
This was probably caused by the following module: ntoskrnl.exe (nt+0x70700)
Bugcheck code: 0xD1 (0x0, 0x2, 0x1, 0xFFFFF88001666AEC)
Error: DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
file path: C:\Windows\system32\ntoskrnl.exe
product: Microsoft® Windows® Operating System
company: Microsoft Corporation
description: NT Kernel & System
Bug check description: This indicates that a kernel-mode driver attempted to access pageable memory at a process IRQL that was too high.
This appears to be a typical software driver bug and is not likely to be caused by a hardware problem.
The crash took place in the Windows kernel. Possibly this problem is caused by another driver which cannot be identified at this time.

On Sat 6/25/2011 9:58:57 PM GMT your computer crashed
crash dump file: C:\Windows\memory.dmp
This was probably caused by the following module: aswtdi.sys (aswTdi+0x11A8)
Bugcheck code: 0xD1 (0x0, 0x2, 0x1, 0xFFFFF88001666AEC)
Error: DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
file path: C:\Windows\system32\drivers\aswtdi.sys
product: avast! Antivirus System
company: AVAST Software
description: avast! TDI Filter Driver
Bug check description: This indicates that a kernel-mode driver attempted to access pageable memory at a process IRQL that was too high.
This appears to be a typical software driver bug and is not likely to be caused by a hardware problem.
A third party driver was identified as the probable root cause of this system error. It is suggested you look for an update for the following driver: aswtdi.sys (avast! TDI Filter Driver, AVAST Software).

The dump files can be downloaded from here

Thanks.

Hi Mosfet, welcome to the forum

I will inform Petr Kurtin ( the Avast! Developer who is responsible for the drivers ).

Greetz, Red.

Check the speed and latency in your BIOS setup

I am no expert, so I don’t know. But because the BSOD could be caused by aswtdi.sys I want Petr to look at it

Greetz, Red.

what version of avast?

@Mosfet, I’m not able to download your minidump (http://dl.dropbox.com/u/318093/MEMORY.zip) - I get “Error 500”. Would you mind reupload the dump? Thanks.

I download his dump files, and i upload them to:

(the only reason for that is because i want to help) :stuck_out_tongue:

WOW this is a lot more attention than I expected. Brilliant.
I’ve checked the blue-screen only happens when using steam other than that it works like a charm.

@Nesivos
I’ll check the RAM specs and sett them manually in BIOS. Anyway I know that I’ve set them manually to 1066 MHZ but the rest is left on auto.

@Dwarden
Avast free AV.

Thanks again for you're time.

i would suggest use the last beta version 6.0.1198 and try again
