I, too, have been having the same issue since Avast upgraded versions a few months ago. IT may also have coincided with the April release of patches from Microsoft.

As a computer tech, I have tried all sorts of different things. I thought at first that it was because there was a problem with the “new” used machine I got - have reimaged the machine several times, updated all drivers, rolled back some drivers, disabled devices, ran chkdsk, sfc, and so forth. I have even updated my BIOS and the microcode. Windbg tells me that all of this is possibly tied to aswSP.sys.

The machine will BSOD when a couple of IE pages are open at the same time and one or more of them is trying to load stuff. The only thing that seems to prevent the issue is going into the BIOS and disabling the multicore processor.
