BSOD from AVAST

So I’ve been having bluescreens and it was caused by drivers: aswTdi.SYS and aswSnx.SYS

The 1st crash was when I was running v6, the second was v7.

Please help out; I really enjoy using Avast. Thanks.

first whats your version of your avast 7? is it version 7.0.1407 or 7.0.1414??? 7.0.1414 is a major bug fix release

The latst one, cuz I just updated an 1hr ago

then it should be 7.0.1414 but is it still giving you blue screens?

Hi please upload all dumps here:

ftp.avast.com/incoming

also leave a link to this topic there.

the avast team will fix it…

I tried to update to 7.0.1414 just now and it says 7.0.1407 is already up to date. Please don’t tell me I would have to run that FixUpdate.exe file again. I ran that Thursday night. If I DO have to run it again, can I run the same one that I already have on file…???

Could this be the reason why my pc was flipping out last night & this morning? Last night I didn’t get the BSOD, but I did get a blank Windows 7 Home Premium screen without any log-on icon display. I had to do a hard shut down, then reboot into safe mode.

Please see my previous reply and upload all dump files there…

ok you should follow papu’s instruction first… since you can’t update to 7.0.1414 you may try restarting the pc follow these steps:

  1. download aswclear from here: http://www.avast.com/uninstall-utility

  2. disable avast self defense module by going into settings and to the maintenance tab

  3. boot up in safe mode run aswclear.exe reboot

  4. download avast 7.0.1414 from here: http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=94790.0

  5. note that 7.0.1407 has a lot of bugs even when i tried updating via gui won’t work had to follow the steps above to finally get avast up and running 7.0.1414 covers most of the BSOD issues

Hi, i want to say, that troubleshootings may occured with any programms and software, but since i begin and install the latest updates for my WindowsSp2 from Microsoft 's Website, nothing bad happens and everything is allright-check for your OS latest updates-it is very important! And it works!
