BSOD related to latest def updates?

Hi all,

Got a BSOD shortly after getting this morning’s def updates (0533-2). Probably just a coincidence of timing, especially since I use the report-to-MS thing and it insisted the problem somehow involved drivers but couldn’t pin it down any better than that.

I also did their survey and commented that I didn’t believe defs updates only could have anything to do with drivers. No new hardware or software, and avast, Ad-Aware, and Spybot are all showing me clean.

Is there general agreement that I can rule out avast? Seems to be fine since rebooting, and I suspect it was just one of those weird mornings for Win which sometimes happen.

Thanks and best,
Mike

Mike, seems just a coincidence. Anyway, is there any dump file that could be sent to Alwil for analysis?
Are you using Windows XP? If so, please, go to folder \windows\minidump and send the newest (recent) .mdmp files for analysis.
Better if you can compress (zip) them and add some information about the BSOD and the link for this thread.
Upload to: ftp://ftp.asw.cz/incoming

Hi Tech, and thanks.

But I’m a little lost – can’t figure out how to upload the zip to that page. I’ve used FTP’s before, but only for downloads. Even tried drag-and-drop, but all that did was offer to open the zip for me.

And what I started with was a dmp, not mdmp – I suspect that’s because I’m set for the default (64K?) mini-dump.

And how would I add notes, comments, etc. Just add a brief txt to that zip?

Thanks again, and best,
Mike
