BSOD stuck at aswrvrt.sys

Hi,
After a clean shut down, I cannot start win7 any more.
Safe mode stops at trying to load aswrvrt.sys then goes on to BSOD with STOP 50 error.
I have tested the memory stick with mem86 but no errors.
I have downloaded the tools that essexboy usually recommands but I do not have the link to Windows 7 64bit RC that is necessary to create the bootable USB with Rufus.
Please help.

Did you recently install the Windows 7 updates from August 12-13?? If so, it may not be an avast! problem at all. I had the exact same problem and discovered that the culprit was actually a couple of the recent updates from the latest ones from Microsoft.

Read the messages in the following link and see if they help at all . . . .

It probably updated automatically, I am going to try removing this fntcache.dat file and see if it works.
In the meantime I am progressing with the other tools.
Thanks

Thanks, removing this … file worked. All this time wasted because of a bad update.
Thanks to all for your help.

Excellent!!! Glad I was able to help. . . .
