OK I have downloaded the patch and will apply it shortly.
Do I need to place the aswMon2.sys.sum in both locations ?
Another point, since the aswMon2.sys file wasn’t mentioned in the minidumps (can’t say about the memory.dmp file), are you sure this will resolve the issue with aswSnx.sys ?
as I wrote, apply only ap2011-24-07-001 patch: i.e. aswSnx.sys
That is the patch I though I downloaded downloaded (32bit.zip) but there was no aswSnx.sys or aswSnx.sys.sum files in it, only the aswMon2.sys and .sum files. That is why I queried it, so it looks like I downloaded the wrong one.
Will download and check again and apply it if it contains the aswSnx.sys and .sum files.

As I said that is what I though I had downloaded, clearly not when it didn’t contain the expected files.
Update:
I have now downloaded the correct patch and applied the patch to both folders (and files) as per the instructions.
First reboot after the patch has been fine, will monitor over time.

I am experiencing the same thing. it all happened after upgrading to outpost 7.5.1
Then you should start your own new topic and upload the dump files as I did to confirm it is the same as there can be many different system permutations. e.g. I don’t have any problem on my XP Pro system.
So essentially I wouldn’t apply any patch unless your situation is exactly the same and that really can only be confirmed through analysis of the dump files.
Upload any minidump or memory.dmp files, zipped to reduce size. Give the zip file you are uploading a unique name (e.g. forumusername-mem-dump.zip, etc), so they can identify it. It might not be a bad idea to create a text file (readme.txt) with any relevant information, avast topic URL, user name, etc. etc. in the zip file.
Memory dump locations, Mini Dump files in, C:\Windows\Minidump\ - Full Kernel dump file, C:\windows\memory.dmp
Upload the zip file to the ftp server ftp://ftp.avast.com/incoming:
Using Internet Explorer, Connect to the link and drag the file into the Right pane and drop it, that starts the upload, you don’t have read access to this folder.
Or
Upload it using the Run command-line in Windows: Windows Key + R (to get the run box), copy and paste this [nobbc]explorer ftp://ftp.avast.com/incoming[/nobbc] and drag the file into the window, from another explorer window.
First you have to create your zip file with the unique name, containing the dump files and the readme.txt file, before you even consider connection to the ftp location [nobbc]explorer ftp://ftp.avast.com/incoming[/nobbc]. You do not have read permissions on the [nobbc]explorer ftp://ftp.avast.com/incoming[/nobbc] location, so you won’t see it has been uploaded.
Now you make your first windows explorer connection to the ftp link [nobbc]explorer ftp://ftp.avast.com/incoming[/nobbc], now open another explorer window where you locate your unique zip file containing the dump and readme.txt files; drag and drop that file into the other explorer window (right hand side), no need to click enter or any other action.

OMG! I applied the patches… can’t see any problems though…

because the patches are only applicable to specific cause of BSOD. i might get a problem soon. ??? ??? ???
Well, the patches certainly shouldn’t hurt (= cause any more problems), the worst thing should be that they won’t help (if your problem is not covered there).
What’s empty as I gave you two locations and it depends on what your System Properties, Startup and Recovery settings are minidump files should be created all the time, the memory.dmp file only if you set it to do a kernel memory dump, see image.
Whilst, I would hope nothing untoward would happen by applying the patch, it really isn’t advisable to apply it if the patch isn’t applicable to your problem.
