BSOD while installing avast antivirus

I am considering to buy avast antivirus so today i wanted to give a test run of avast antivirus. So downloaded the file from avast official website, then removed avast free in safemode by avast uninstaller. rebooted to normal mode put online armor to learning mode and installed avast. While finishing the installation I got a blue screen and windows shut down to “prevent damage” then it restarted i choose run normally then it did a harddrive dignosis in my E drive partition. Avast seems to install alright its showing “sytem is protected” and running fine at the moment.

So is there anything i should be worried about?

Thanks for any help and suggestion

Check in the Windows events if there is more info about the BSOD.
You can try to repair both installations (avast and OA).

Interestingly there is no avast entry in windows add remove program. but avast is up and running in my system and working. I guess i have to again do the clean reinstall. Hope everything goes fine this time.

Please install the latest beta: http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=83583.0, it fixes several BSODs.
If you got a BSOD during installation process, then avast installation is “correupted”, not fully finished (this is known issue).

Thanks.

Thanks PK for your reply while trying to do a reinstall i got a second BSOD. I never had BSOD before. As you say the downloaded file may have been corrupted i will give the beta a try. If this is known issue then i guess there is no need for me to unload the minidump.

Thanks again

The beta installed with no problem. Thanks

ooh a beta ? finally ill try this version since I havent been able to use avast for a few months because it just stops my pc working with BSOD as soon as I install it ,to BSOD after BSOD when trying to start my pc.Sometimes it was even hard to get the pc work in safe mode.
Hope the beta works for me as i feel naked without AVAST
