BSOD: Win7 64 bit

Anytime I let Avast try to update itself, after notification of a new release, my machine goes BSOD. If I manually download the new version and install it works fine. I have also seen a few BSODs when the tools is simply trying to update the engine and definitions.

I have NEVER seen this issue on any of my 32 bit systems.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have two W7 SP1 x64 computers and have never had the problem that you are referring to.

  1. When did you get the W7 x64 system?
  2. Did it come with an Anti-Virus program?
  3. If it did did you uninstall it and how did you uninstall it?
  4. Did you uninstall it before you installed avast!?
  5. Which version of avast! did you first install on your computer?
  6. With which version did this problem first occur?
  7. What version are you on now?

Thanks

It would be nice to have the corresponding minidump files (from the c:\windows\minidump folder)

Igor,
I apologize, I didn’t receive an email notification that anyone had replied to my message. I have a few mini-dump files that I can send if you’ll tell me where to send them

Thanks!
Justin

ftp.avast.com/incoming

It said that I didn’t have permission to create / upload a file to that directory.

Should work.

I attempted to upload the file to the following filename ‘omega708_20110702.dmp’
Of course due to the security settings, I cannot see if it is there or not.

Good.
Now, wait for the reply of the devs.

Thanks for the assistance. Is there an option I can check to have the forum send me an email when someone replies to the thread?

Thanks, I was looking on my profile settings. Didn’t realize it was a thread level thing.
Thanks again!

NP omega…!

Just bumping this thread to push it back to the top. Hopefully one of the devs will be able to look at my minidump soon.

I’m afraid I don’t see any file starting with “omega” on the FTP…
