Buffalo Linkstation browser access to admin accoount

I have a Buffalo Linkstation Mini NAS plugged into my router and assigned IP address 192.168.1.4
To login to the admin account of the linkstation you use a browser and http://192.168.1.4
This displays a page with a buffalo header and a login dialog box.
I am running WinXP Pro and Firefox 3.6.8, and cannot login successfully because after the username and password have been accepted I get a dialog with the message “Session expired, please log in again”. (and again and again).
I have three identical WinXP systems on my network, and all suffer from this.

This problem does not happen using Internet Explorer, only Firefox.

It does not happen if I disable Avast!

Is it possible to configure Avast! so it doesn’t cause this problem with Firefox ?

Welcome to the forum.
What makes you think it has anything to do with avast! ???
This sound like you don’t have cookies allowed in Firefox.

Hi, thanks for your quick reply.

It is very clear-cut, everything works ok if I disable Avast!

Sorry my original post was so long, but I wanted to explain the problem exactly so as to avoid a long list of “have you tried this” posts. So to summarise:

3 x WinXP systems running Firefox 3.6.8 and ZoneAlarm 8.0.298, two using Avast! and one running AVG.
The problem only occurs with Firefox on the two systems running Avast! and not at all if Avast! is disabled.
Internet Explorer has no problem.
