Sorry for bad translation, it’s really difficult… :-[
Explorer freezes when I right-click EXE files in the junction directory.
Using avast Pro 5.0.677. avast Free 5.0.677 doesn’t have this isuue.
Example:
C:\folder\program.exe (Original file)
Make junction “C:\junction” as “C:\folder”. (mklink /j C:\junction C:\folder)
When I right click C:\junction\program.exe, explorer freezes.
No problem when I right click C:\folder\program.exe .
Confirmed in these environment:
Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit (Phenom II x4 965, 16GB mem)
Windows 7 HomePremium 64bit (VMware Player 3.1.3, 1GB mem)
Windows XP Professional(SP3) 32bit (VMware Player 3.1.3, 1GB mem)
(7Home, XP Pro is clean install, only windows update is done)
This issue happens even with all shields disabled. Adding this to exclusion list does not work.
If I use Symbolic-link instead of Junction, this issue does not happen.
This is commonly down to a conflict/clash between shell extensions (right click menu entries), check out this link, http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/shexview.html for Shell Explorer View ShellExView.
This is also a real pin to find what it is, I had this happen years ago on XP Pro and it turned out to be my snagit screen capture shell extension. Mine was intermittent and I did lots of internet searches without solution and eventually stumbled on it being associated with a piece of software I use.
Unfortunately it may be a case of patiently disabling your shell extensions one at a time until you find the offending one, I did say it was a pain in the rear didn’t I.
