Vlk, remember when I was talking about IE shutting down on XML pages? Well, I uninstalled Avast temporarily, and saw that it was actually an IE XML “Schema Not Found” error message causing the problems. Well, without Avast, IE shows an “XML Document cannot be displayed” error message, but with Avast, IE just simply shuts down. Could this be a bug with the script blocker?
Could be a bug - I will tell the QA folks here to thoroughly test this, and will keep you updated you with the results…
BTW could you please once again tell me the OS and exact version of IE you’re using?
Thanks
Vlk
Windows XP Professional SP1 (corporate edition) with MS IE 6 SP1, version 6.0.2800.1106.xpsp1.020828-1920 (whew! that was a long version number!)
AVast build 4.0.202 <–Ahem, the one without the screensaver, ahem
This bug also happens when loading www.iss.net
Any update?
Hi,
my system load www.iss.net normally…
Maybe something is not updated in your system…But we are waiting for Vlk’s answer… 8)
We can’t simulate this one. No matter how hard we try (and how screwed XML files we pass to it ;)), it just works.
Maybe it really wasn’t avast after all… :-[
Anyone else having the same problem?
Thanks,
Vlk
Hmm, well a little update:
Even after removing Avast, I was having some trouble with IE and scripting. I completely removed the JavaScript key, then I regsvr32’d shell32.dll, activex.dll, shdocvw.dll, jscript.dll, and whatever I could find. After that, it worked!
Oh well, sorry for the trouble.
