Bug when setting SMTP information

Hi! I noticed a change on the SMTP menu, inside Settings: now
we get to set an user and password for smtp auth (this is used
to send reports, as far as I’m concerned).

The bug appears to be skin independent.

The SMTP menu I’m talking about:

  • Run avast! interface
  • Enter Menu > Settings
  • Choose SMTP

What happens: When I try to fill in the fields, the above icon
and title for SMTP disappears. Beside that, when erasing characters,
the cursor moves to the left, but the text stays there… When I type
again, the new text get over the old one, blending on the screen.
The old one seems to disappear when I switch fields.

Running WinXP PRO SP2 (english).
Graphic card: ASUS V9900 nVidia drivers: 62.11

On this page, you can specify your SMTP server parameters. avast! uses these settings to send e-mail messages, especially when:

Sending warning messages when a virus has been found.
Sending files from the Chest to ALWIL Software.
Sending avast! crash reports to ALWIL Software.
You should enter the following information:

Server address - the address of the outgoing e-mail server (e.g. smtp.server.com or 192.168.1.25).
Port - the port number (the default is 25).
From address - address of the sender (“From”).

I’m running version 4.5.505, but it happened while I was using version 4.1.

Have you tried those settings in safe mode? (ruling out another application is interfering)

Have you tried with the skinless Avast? (ruling out a skin issue)

Have you tried to repair Avast? (sometimes this is fixing things)

I’ve tryied with another skin… ;D
I’ll try the things you mentioned later on tonight (in about 12hs).
Have to go to work now!

Nothing strange here… Everything is fine.
Maybe ClearType font options or NVIDIA (video) drivers ???

Hey Felipe,
It’s radicalb21. First let me welcome you to the forum. I know some people have had problems w/ clear type and nvidia drivers. The current stable release for nvidia drivers is 61.77 . The only other option I know of is not to use clear type. I hope this helps.
