Hello everyone. I want to report a bug with new avast on windows xp sp3.
After update i run quick scan. Avast found 2 rotkit virus and he moved it to chest. After that i restart a system but i cant run any programrs because avast deleted dll files that are ok from system32 folder (dhhcpmon.dll and dot3svcc.dll). I run safe mode and back up dll and now works.
Every time i run quick scan , avast recognize different dll from system32 as rottkit.
Please fix that bug, avast 2014 delete files that are clean!
Here is screenshot of virus chest and clean dll that avast deleted
A bug? Just because the files are in the system32 folder doesn’t mean they are safe.
Submit the file(s) to https://www.virustotal.com and post the result in you next post.
When avast send that files to virus chest i can’t run any software!
Also i scanned my computer with malwarebytes and all files are clean. Only new avast recognize that files as malware! I scanned before 2-3 days with avast 8 and all files are clean, now with 2014 i have problem. I think its bug in avast 2014.
I did that on another forum and my computer is clean. What about first file?
Files are clean but avast is detect it! Is anyone else have this bug on XP?
I just checked 5(!) systems with Windows XP SP3 (fully updated) and on none of them those files excist.
dot3msm.dll and dot3svc.dll are the normal files.
dot3msmm.dll and dot3svcc.dll are NOT
I have the same problem on my laptop. My computers are clean, its problem on avast. I heard that a few users have the same problem as me with avast 2014. Please fix this with new update!
I use avast for 4 years and this is the first time i have problems with that antivirus.
I have Windows XP Home SP3 and can confirm what Eddy says. I do not have the three files you mention. I have the following instead:
dhcpmon.dll
dot3msm.dll
dot3svc.dll
It looks like something may have damaged those file names on your computer inserting an extra character. To try the system repair operation, open a command window and enter:
sfc /scannow
