Bug with xls files in Excel

Mrs aqix has had a problem saving xls files in Excel since I updated her pc to Avast v.11.2.2262 recently (don’t know what version it was before).

Now when she saves a file for the first time it’s fine but if she tries to save it a second time she gets the message: “Document saved successfully. Cannot reopen the file due to low memory. Please close the document”. If she ignores it and carries on then she can’t save anything.

I found the problem goes if I turn off Avast’s “File System Shield” or if the file is on a memory stick rather than the hd.

Anyone know if is this a known problem that Avast intends to rectify sometime soon or if there’s a tweak to cure it. If not, I’ll need to install an alternative av for her I guess. All suggestions to make me look smart and get me back in Mrs aqix’s good books gratefully received.
