Business Protection Plus not installing on Windows 2003 SBS

I have installed Business Protection Plus Administration Console on a Windows 2003 SBS. I have been unable to install the client on the server. The install process starts but then the install window disappears and the product never gets installed.

Any idea what I can check/change to install the client software?

Do you mean with installing that you want to deploy the client software from the console?

if this is the case try to manually install the client via the MSI file.

Download the File Server installation file, and installed on your server 2003.

open the setup.ini from the installed avast folder then change the server URL to your administrator console IP/computer name.

Thank you. I didn’t realize there was a separate server version. I downloaded and it installed fine. The client version never gave me an error message, it just didn’t work.

On a related note, when I look at the admin console under the Network options, all computers are visible but only the server is showing as connected to the console. I installed the clients manually on the workstations but how do I connect them to the console for monitoring and administration?

you should deploy the client to the clients rather then using the generic setup you downloaded.
this way the clients get all the correct settings.

What method did you use to install the client?

  • remote deployment job
  • standalone installation (name of the file?)
  • or email deployment package ?

I originally had issues with the console so I couldn’t deploy. That is why I did a stand-alone install on the workstations. The filename is avast_managed.exe.
