LG peripherals of any kind are generally quite reliable, and (here in Canada, anyway) are often the most widely and readily available brand. I’ve got their “Flatron” L1942T monitor (19") which has been quite handy for general purpose work and has a surprising number of options available on its built-in menu system, think it cost me around $200 or $250 4 or 5 years ago.
It’s a conventional 4x3 screen, but when I buy DVD movies I try for the widescreen versions anyway, simply because the “reformatted to fit your screen” full-screen versions chop off quite a bit at either side, and the black areas top and bottom don’t bother me.
