Hi need some advice, my Avast license is up in a few days and Windows 10 is also out in a few days. If I bought a new license now and activated it on my Windows 8.1 OS, do I need a new license for Windows 10 or will it still be recognized after upgrading?
License will stay valid for the period you have chosen.
e.g. 1, 2 or 3 year.
So there is no chance that it will think its a new PC because of the Windows 10 upgrade and say that this license has been activated another PC (my old Windows 8.1 OS)
I think that the plan/intention for upgrading to win10 is to be able to do it in place over the existing win7 or win8.x installation. Whilst some might wish to do a clean installation of win10, this shouldn’t be an issue.
If you are going to do a clean OS installation, download and save off the system the latest avast version and a copy of your license file.
Uninstall the current avast installation - this should mean it isn’t registered on your my.avast.com account, you could delete the device in my.avast.com if necessary.
When you have installed win10, install avast, and apply the license as you did previously and now link it to your my.avast.com account.
