Ignoring a process could be done with Internet Mail and Web Shield providers.
You can change the [MaisScanner] and [WebScanner] into avast4.ini file, adding the value IgnoreProcess value:
For instance: IgnoreProcess=avast.setup,<name_of_process_to_be_ignored>
Well, can the programmers say if any of the ‘deep’ Windows processes, with high activity and resources consumption be excluded?
Will this speed up the computer?
What about excluding a process (not a file) from Standard Shield? Is it possible? How? Again will this speed up the computer?
How less safe will we be?
Sorry Technical, but this is pure nonsense… No speed-up will take place (in fact the opposite it true - extra handling has to be done to implement the exclusion).
I’m just saying that it wouldn’t speed up anything, AND suggesting to remove the thread becuse many users will be clicking it (as its title is so interesting) but no useful info is present…

I wouldn’t go as far as to call your question non-sense. It is simply a misunderstanding.
When some app makes an outgoing connection, firstly the port number is checked, if it is some of the monitored ports (80, 110, 25, 143, 119) then the list of ignored processes is checked. If the current process is not on ignored list, port numbers are correct and the provider is running, the connection’s payload is forwarded to the MailScanner or WebShield process and checked for viruses.
This is all happening only when the app makes an outgoing connection. For normal operation of your OS the performance is not affected in any way. It even hasn’t any effect on the network speed for those connections that are not scanned (other communication than mail or web).
So until you have several thousands of ignored processes and houndreds of ignored mail transfers per second in my opinion there are no performance gains nor penalties.

But if the user does not ‘ignore the local traffic’… ?!
Am I wrong to think that there will be local traffic scanning or not?
Maybe it’s the answer to my question… I’m not sure.
Maybe only with ‘outbound’ connections the traffic will be scanned and not ‘all’ local traffic (access to disks, read, write, etc.)
By the way, is there an IgnoreProcess value for Standard Shield?
